Celebrate International Trails Day (US National Trails Day) this weekend with a hike on Canada’s first and longest footpath The Bruce Trail.


Friday, June 1 2012 Car hike Level III – Blue Mountains, Pretty River (Map 23)LENGTH OF HIKE: 21 km, PACE: 4.5 km/hr, TERRAIN: Hilly, with rocky sections No dropout, Refreshments after. We will start off in the Pretty River Valley, gradually climbing to some of the high points in the area as we make our way to the turnaround point at Osler Bluff. The return route will include the Petun, John Haigh and Pretty River Access Side Trails plus a few unmarked trails. Saturday, June 2 2012  Bus hike Level II/III – Dufferin Hi-Land, Black Bank (Maps 20/21)LENGTH OF HIKE: 19 km, PACE: 3.5 km/hr, TERRAIN: Variable Dropout at TBA, End to End #3 of 3, Hiking boots, Refreshments after, Pub stop after, Pre-registration Online using Website. Saturday, June 2 2012  Car hike Level II/III – Blue Mountains, Nottawasaga Bluffs, Devil’s Glen, An Adventure to Tobermory (Maps 22/23) LENGTH OF HIKE: 21 km  PACE: 4 km/hr, TERRAIN: Hilly, Challenging No dropout, Hiking boots, No dogs, Bring 2 litres of drinking water, a snack lunch, sunscreen and insect repellent. Queenston Heights Park into Niagara on the Lake, followed by historical walk of Niagara on the Lake with Old Town Tours, who will give us the history of Niagara on the Lake and talk about the town before and after the War of 1812. Sometimes called the Strawberry Moon, this moon has also been known as the Rose Moon, the Flower Moon, and the Planting Moon. We are going to hike all night. Meet before sunset on Saturday, watch the sunrise Sunday morning. Pre-registration started: Tue May 1 2012 9:00 am. No dropout, End to End #3 of 4, Hiking boots, No dogs. Depart 8:30 am, Kinsmen Community Park, Km 68.1 Map 4. Ron Granger, (519) 485-0879 7-10 pm We car shuttle to Km 46.3, Map 3, and hike back through Louth and Ball’s Falls Conservation Areas.  


Sunday, June 3 2012  Bus hike Level II – Iroquoia, Ball’s Fall            LENGTH OF HIKE: 16 km, PACE: 4.5 km/hr , TERRAIN: Mostly flat Dropout at 14 km, Hiking boots, Refreshments after, Pre-registration Online using Website. Depart 9 am, York Mills. We will car shuttle to Hwy 9 and hike back through the Tai Chi Centre and Hockley Valley. Bring plenty of water.
