Toronto Bruce Trail Club

50th Annual General Meeting of

The Toronto Bruce Trail Club

Next year, 2012, is the 50th Anniversary of the
founding of the Toronto Bruce Trail Club. The Annual General Meeting is planned
for Saturday, April 21 at the exact same location as the very first meeting—the
Floral Room at Edwards Gardens (now known as “Toronto Botanical Gardens”). Of
course, 2012 is the first year of a notable five-year period for the Bruce
Trail Conservancy leading to the 50th anniversary in 2017. Over that five year
span: several Bruce Trail Clubs were founded; the first blazes were painted;
the first hike took place; and finally, in 1967, The Trail was officially
opened at a ceremony in Tobermory.
